The Exe Press began publishing in January 2006 and has published every month since. We started with two magazines one for Exmouth and another for Budleigh Salterton. However, it soon became apparent that most advertisers wanted to advertise in both editions, so we soon came to the decision to combine the two. The only issue we then had was that when we put the two names together "The Exmouth & Budleigh Salterton Directory" it became a bit of a mouthful, therefore we decided to change it to:
"The Exe Press" With the strap line that accurately describes our mission to promote local businesses and services "The quickest way to find local businesses and services", the name is easier to remember and instantly recognisable. New Name or brand, new cover image or scene every month and advertising in a small but powerful way.
We continued to grow and more and more advertisers realised that we not only have
a good format but we were getting RESULTS for them! Yes people were responding not
just when the magazine was delivered but sometimes weeks later showing that the "model"
is working. Since then advertisers who were with us during the first part of the
year renewed their advertising and many are now regular advertisers with us, month
in month out! That tells it's own story -
